Kirkenes Snowhotel

Very close to Kirkenes, the Snowhotel is located. It´s a nice, but also very expensive hotel.

As the name maybe already spoiled you, it´s a hotel made out of snow! Of coure the hotel out of snow is only available in the winter but they also have cute cabins in which you can stay. Additional to that they own 180 Huskys to take their costumers on sledge tours or walks in to the nature of Finnmark! They also offer Kingcrab safaris, Snowmobile tours and ice fishing. Its just a perfect package Nord Norway ? Reindeers to watch included.

Probably no one of us could normally afford to go there, the people staying there are fricking millionaires, but the nice owner of the hotel, Kåre kindly offered us a internship there. So we started to go there for a few daytrips. He showed us around and explained us a lot about how he started it and how he always keeps trying to improve it, he never stops thinking about how he can make it better and more attractive for his costumers.

Nowadays its nothing like it was back in 2002 when he started his hotel.

The best part about the Snowhotel project is that we get not only to know how the tourism works, we get to really work in the tourism. We can collect experiences and have a lot of fun. A few of us can work in the dogyard, cuddle dogs and drive with the sledge! Other ones can work as tour guides for the costumers and try many diffrent things at the hotel.

We are even allowed to sleep one night in the Snowhotel for free when we are working there!
